Modern Miracles
A Miracle of Life and HealingIn 2006 Mrs Eugenie Edwards of the little town of Stutterheim in South Africa’s Eastern Cape was involved in a terrible accident. Her survival and ultimate recovery were indisputably miraculous. I heard her testimony in church one bright Sunday morning some months after the accident that she so vividly recounts. I knew most, if not all, the people involved. In March 2011 my wife and I left Stutterheim. Some time later I received Eugenie's narration of the events of 2006 via a mutual friend. The following are Eugenie’s own words. Nothing has been edited or changed. See for yourself what God did in her life. | | |

Quadriplegic Walks Again After Crying, 'Jesus, Jesus, Jesus'
Known in this ethnic Tibetan community only as “Grandpa,” the 71-year-old tells his story with a gleam in his watery brown eyes. “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,” Grandpa repeats, holding his palms together just under the nose of his weathered face and bowing his head as if in prayer. “I prayed to Jesus, and now I can walk.” It began about 10 months ago, when Sonam Lhomi, an ethnic Tibetan, introduced the old man to her friends Eliza Ellis* and Alexis Frei,* student volunteers serving in Nepal. At the time, the old man was confined to his bed, paralyzed from the neck down as a result of an avalanche in the mountains. For three years, Grandpa could not move his arms or legs. He was completely bedridden, requiring constant care. The old man is certain of two things: He can walk again, and Jesus made it happen. Scientist Fired for Believing Jesus Heals
People can believe a lot of crazy stuff nowadays and not be fired from their jobs, but a senior research associate at the Catholic University of Leuven learned that you better not believe that God can heal. The university is the oldest and largest in Belgium. It was founded in the 1400s under the approval of the Vatican. But as modern Europe has secularized, so has the University, and even here, faith has come under fire. Fernando Pauwels worked at the University's Research Institute for Work and Society for 11 years without a negative review when he was suddenly fired. He said, "If you would have asked me, 'Do you get a new contract?,' I would say, 'Yes, of course.' 'Do you have problems with your colleagues?' I would say 'No, everything is fine.' So there were no issues there. A week later I'm out, and I'm like, 'What happened?'" Read the article here |
| Woman spontaneously revives after 40 minutes without a pulseRuby Graupera-Cassimiro, 40, fell unconscious from a rare amniotic fluid embolism during a cesarean section in September 2014 at the Boca Raton Regional Hospital in Florida. Doctors tried to revive Graupera-Cassimiro for three hours. After 45 minutes without a pulse, doctors decided to invite her family into the operating room to say their last goodbyes. Then what doctors are calling a “miracle” occurred — her heart began beating on its own. |
